Gemma Koomen is a British author, artist and illustrator working in gouache, ink and mixed media. Ever since she could hold a pencil Gemma has been inspired by wildflowers and plants, childhood joy, animals that you could maybe have a conversation with, thoughtful objects, nostalgic places and tiny homes.
Immersive, gentle, and comforting, Gemma’s work stems from seeking wonder, a connection to the natural world and finding magic in every day things.
Gemma’s work has been commissioned by clients such as Penguin random House, Flow magazine and Quarto books and featured in national magazines such as Country living, Homes and Antiques, and Period living.
Gemma lives in the North pennines, UK with her family and dog, Porridge. She works in her studio surrounded by hedgerows, wide skies, wildflowers and birdsong.
Her paper goods and stationery are carried by shops and galleries worldwide, as well as in her own bespoke online store.
You can find her works for sale in her shop www.gemmakoomenshop.com
